Translations¶
The LazyLibrarian web interface can be shown in other languages.
Choosing the interface language¶
Go to Config > Interface > Appearance > Interface language and pick a language:
- English - the default.
- Automatic (browser language) - uses the language set in your browser. If there is no translation for it, English is used. With user accounts, each user then sees the interface in their own browser's language.
- A specific language - everyone sees the interface in that language.
Text that isn't translated yet is shown in English, so a partly translated language is still usable. Log messages and the API always stay in English.
Helping with translations¶
Translations are made by volunteers on Hosted Weblate. You don't need any coding or git knowledge, everything is done in the browser.
- Create an account on Hosted Weblate, or sign in with GitLab or GitHub.
- Open the LazyLibrarian project and the WebUI component.
- Pick your language, or use Start new translation if it isn't listed yet.
- Translate the strings. You can also review and improve existing translations, or leave suggestions.
Weblate sends the finished translations to the LazyLibrarian repository as merge requests, so they appear in the next update after they're merged.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Keep placeholders such as
%(count)s,%(title)sor_MENU_,_START_,_END_,_TOTAL_,_MAX_as they are. They are replaced by numbers or names, and you can move them wherever they fit in your sentence. - Some strings have a short note for translators explaining where they appear. Short words like "Have" or "Status" are usually column headers or status labels.
- Please translate in Weblate instead of editing the
.pofiles in the repository. Weblate keeps its own copy, and changes made elsewhere conflict with its merge requests.
If something in the interface isn't translatable yet, or a string is unclear, please open an issue.
